Houston-based artists Robin Baker and Wood Fancher Anthony, collaboratively known as RobinWood, share an artistic practice rooted in their experiences growing up in Houston, TX and its diverse cultural landscape. Their shared connection to the city provides a foundation for work that reflects the people, cultures, identities, and changing landscapes of the state and region they call home.
Baker works exclusively in black-and-white acrylic, creating high-contrast compositions shaped in part by vision issues that cause him to see the world largely through shadows and light. He has transformed this unique way of seeing into a defining element of his artistic style. Anthony works in oil and is influenced by his Mexican heritage. His artistic style is realistic and vibrantly colored. By combining their distinct yet complementary styles, they create playful, bold, and memorable collaborations that evoke duality.
Robin Baker and Wood Fancher Anthony have exhibited collaboratively as RobinWood in Houston, including State of Vulnerability and With Love, Texas at Monterroso Gallery. Their work has also appeared in juried exhibitions and cultural institutions throughout Texas.
